Product Properties

Duplex roller chain is a type of chain commonly used in various mechanical applications, especially in power transmission systems. It consists of two parallel strands of roller chain links that are connected by plates. Each link in the chain contains a roller that rotates between the inner plates, allowing smooth movement and reduced friction.

The duplex roller chain is designed to handle heavy loads and provides high tensile strength. It is widely used in industries such as automotive, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing. Some common applications include conveyors, motorcycles, bicycles, industrial machinery, and agricultural equipment.

The duplex roller chain comes in different sizes and configurations to accommodate specific load requirements. It is typically made from high-quality steel or alloy materials to ensure durability and resistance to wear and corrosion.

Regular maintenance and lubrication are essential for the performance and longevity Inspection for wear, proper tensioning, and lubrication are recommended to prevent chain failure and optimize efficiency.

Roller chain wear problem

Roller chain wear is primarily caused by friction and wear rather than actual stretching of the chain material. In a roller chain, the pitch is the spacing between the links, and as the chain wears, friction and wear cause the spacing between the links to become wider, thereby increasing the chain's pitch.

This wear mainly occurs between the pivot pin, a key component of the chain link connection, and the bushing, which is a protective layer used to reduce friction and wear. Over time, the friction between the pivot pin and the bushing will cause wear, causing the gap between the pivot pin and the bushing to become larger.

As the chain wears and the pitch increases, the chain becomes longer. This is because the overall length of the chain increases as the spacing between each link on the chain increases. This lengthening of the chain may cause the chain to become loose, affecting the normal operation of the machine or equipment.

It is important to note that flexible steel components, such as handbrake cables on motor vehicles, may actually stretch during use. This stretch is not the same as roller chain wear increasing pitch, it is chain elongation due to the elastic nature of the material. To ensure safety and proper operation, these flexible steel components require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure they are in good working order.
